Mount View

Apparently there is one place to be in Dharmasala at night and apparently that place is Mount View.

It is a bar with a DJ so after everyone has had a few drinks they start dancing and let me tell you, these Tibetans are talented at many things but dancing is not one of them.

There is a weird amount of homo-eroticism going on where men are kind of air humping along together. In fact, you hardly see men and women dancing together at all. I think it’s like the equivalent of a football locker room where it’s okay for dudes to walk around naked in front of each other and towel tap each other and ass tap each other - all those awkward things no one really wants to see straight men do in public.

I also met the coolest 17 year old ever - Cody. He was Canadian and only let 1 “ay” slip the entire night, which I thought was pretty impressive. Cody has lived here with his Mom for 1 and 1/2 years and lived here when he was 9 for a year. He is going back to Canada in January to work for a year before going to University - maybe in Holland or Delhi. He definitely hasn’t had a typical life. His Mom is writing a book about what it’s really like to live in Dharmasala, the Tibetan version of the Help.

Cody and I talked about all kinds of things and I realized I was actually enjoying his company. Well, that and laughing together at how terrible people were dancing.
